Xatax Game Download
In the 25th century humanity was attacked by a mysterious alien force known as the Xatax. The aliens began to attack the planets of the galactic Alliance, consuming the life force of their inhabitants and growing stronger after each victory. Accustomed to several centuries of peace and virtually disarmed, the humans have no other weapon at their disposal but an ancient starfighter, which has been taken from the Interguild Museum and restored to combat condition. This vessel is humanity's last and only hope.Xatax is a side-scrolling shooter in which the player must defend the remains of the Alliance's guilds against the titular aliens. This is accomplished in a traditional shoot-em-up fashion, fighting waves of alien ships and stationary turrets. The player-controlled ship can become stronger by collecting power capsules dropped by defeated enemies. The game features three different worlds, of which the shareware version only contains the first.

That is the story of Xatax. Now you can forget it because you won't need it. Xatax is just another side-scrolling space shooter with huge fleets of enemies coming against one small ship - you. It has very simple gameplay. Good thing about it is that the difficulty settings really change the game experience, so you can play on easy mode with one hand tied to a chair, whereas the hard mode will be quite a challenge, even for the most skilled of players.

A sidescrolling shooter with power-ups, in the tradition of R-Type. It's the 23rd Century, and alien invaders called Xatax are consuming entire worlds, and mutating themselves as they do. Basically, destroy everything and avoiding getting hit by anything. Destroyed enemies sometimes leave power-ups that upgrade your weapon, add missiles to your ship, or add a pod that follows you and adds to your firepower. You lose an upgrade when you get hit, and if you're already fully downgraded, you die. Buildings and enemies have a great three-dimensional look to them, and the soundtrack is decent, if monotonous. "One hit kill" games can be frustrating and depend heavily on level memorization, but there are three difficulty levels to make it easier on beginning players. There are 3 episodes in this game, with only the first episode playable in the shareware version.

The game supports VGA graphics and has some quite good art, the artist favouring the use of gradients quite a bit. The animation and scrolling seem to be implemented nicely and move smoothly with no flicker. The sound system supports Adlib, Sound Blaster and Sound Blaster Pro cards utilising FM synthesis rather than digitised effects. The music sounds quite decent, but is a little repetitive whilst the sound effects are fairly simple.
This here is a very playable horizontal shooter, though at times it has a few other kinds of perspectives, but for the most part you will be flying your very beautiful white space craft from left to tight. The game is very well polished and very well realized. It's a clean graphics game, clean in terms of controls and the way the enemies come at you. This is a very intense game that always offers you a path to take, as it is not produced randomly, or if randomness enters the equation at any point, it is managed very smartly. Thus, within Amanagi you get a very particular and beautiful experience from all points of views. So, if you love stylized 2.5D games, this is a very good one to go for. Also, as a touch of originality, you can choose what powerups to use, as you're able to cycle through them, which makes playing a little less random and a bit more strategic. Great from all points of view, playable, hard at times, but that calculated and well produced kind of difficulty and, also, a game that never goes out of fashion, with beautiful graphics. For a similar, yet 2D similar experience, see Radias for Windows 95 which is just as intense as well.
Zotrix is an arcade space shooter inspired by early shooter games on arcade machines from 80's and early 90's. Designed for all generations it contains missions with nice and colorful enemies while focused on the arcade element of the gameplay. This being said, this is an upfront disclaimer about a lot of repetitiveness in the gameplay as it is the case with older arcade games. You dive into deep space escorting a cargo ship from your fleet.
